INDIANAPOLIS – A west side daycare center has been cited by the state after two children were hurt.

The Family and Social Services Administration launched an investigation at Alpha Kids Academy, located at 5363 Georgetown Road. According to complaints received by the FSSA, one child was hurt when a high chair tipped over. A second was injured by a falling coat rack.

The investigation also identified lapses in records including employee criminal history checks, first aid training and immunization records. The FSSA also cited the facility for lack of supervision and noticed problems with the hot water.

In response, the FSSA said the daycare ministry could no longer participate in the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF/federal voucher program).

The ministry appealed the decertification order, and workers said they’re taking steps to correct the problems. An administrative hearing is expected in the case.
