A man was shot early Saturday morning and was found in a car, stopped in a construction zone.

Police believe it started at JD’s Pub at 38th Street and Eagle Creek just before 3:30 a.m., where dispatch says a shooting may have spilled into the intersection.

One man was shot in the chest and his Chevy Impala riddled with bullets, but he managed to drive away a few miles down the street, before pulling over in a construction zone near where 38th Street joins I-65 southbound. A police officer found him there and called for help.

This happened moments after other calls came in about shots fired in the area of JD’s Pub.

The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The entrance ramp from 38th Street at I-65 Southbound, near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street was closed and the area was marked off, declared a crime scene.

This is an active investigation. Anyone with information about this incident should call CRIME STOPPERS at 317.262.TIPS (8477).
