Public memorial to honor former Gov. Otis Bowen

A public memorial to honor former Governor Otis Bowen will take place Wednesday and Thursday.

The memorial will be held at the Indiana Statehouse from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Governor Mike Pence will lay at wreath at the memorial at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Visitors to the memorial may sign a condolences book to pay tribute to the former governor.

Bowen died Saturday, May 4, 2013, after serving multiple terms in the Indiana House and two terms as the state’s governor from 1973 to 1981.

Governor Mike Pence has asked businesses and residents to lower their flags to half-staff in honor of the late governor through Saturday, May 11.
