Second fatal shooting reported on city’s east side

Police are investigating after a fatal shooting on the city’s east side.

Officers were called to East 34th Street and Brouse Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

According to a public police report, officers located a 19-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the right chest.

Medics transported him to Wishard Hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

The incident marked the second fatal shooting Monday. Earlier that evening, a father-to-be was gunned down inside Heart’s Landing Apartments near East 42nd Street.

Neither victims’ identity has been released.

Detectives are still interviewing witnesses and have asked anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).  Callers can also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274627 (CRIMES).
