INDIANAPOLIS — Metro Police turned part of a city park into a crime scene after a resident found bones.

A woman approached a police officer working at Garfield Park around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman told the officer she found what looked like a human jaw bone in the park.

The officer investigated the area across the street from IFD Station 29 and found the bone in question which had several teeth intact according to a public police report.

Two representatives from the Marion County Coroner’s Office responded and canvassed the area. Coroner’s office representatives recovered an additional small bone, possibly from a finger.

Police secured the scene and are treating it like a crime scene until they can determine otherwise.
