Storms possible on Thursday and Friday morning.

More rain chances to end the week.  We will be tracking rain and storms for today, tomorrow and Friday before cooler weather is set to arrive over the weekend.  Sunday highs may struggle to hit 60 degrees!

May is the rainiest month of the year for Indianapolis

For today we will be looking at sunshine with a small chance for a passing shower.  The best chance for rain will be off to our east today along the Ohio – Indiana state line.  Rain chances today would be fueled by the instability of a slow moving cut-off low drifting towards the east coast.  Most people won’t see more than a passing shower for today.

Upper low continues to bring chance for rain today.

The forecast gets complicated when it comes to the weekend.  The storm prediction center has area under a slight risk of severe weather for Thursday night into Friday morning.  A slow moving front along with a mid-level ‘vort max’ will mean a return of severe weather chances to the area.  The Storm Prediction Center gives the area a decent shot at seeing destructive straight line winds with a small chance for seeing hail.  These storms will set-up along a frontal boundary that will set up from the southwest to the north northeast.  Mid-level instability will also help heighten the risk through the day.

We will continue to see a decent shot of rain and storms on Friday through the day.  There will also be another chance for rain on Saturday night but Mother’s Day is looking dry but cooler.
