It was more than just the Indy Car drivers on the track Saturday.

Car owners of all kinds made their way to the Speedway for opening day.

The Celebration of Automobiles was a big hit with fans at the track.

Hundreds of vintage and rare cars were on display.

Owners brought cars in from across the country, many excited for the celebration of the track’s May opening.

“Cars that may sit in collections and people don’t get to see,” Chris Diekman, the owner of a vintage car said. “So to bring them all together in a place like this, in such a grounds, the Indy 500 track is pretty cool.”

A lot of those car owners got a unique opportunity on Friday too, getting to drive the vintage cars around the oval a few times.
