Central Indiana started the day with another round of showers and thunderstorms across the state. For several hours, the weather will be dry across our state. This means that the rest of the morning will be dry throughout the afternoon hours. Storms are expected to redevelop later this afternoon heat and moisture continue to build.
The Storm Prediction Center includes East Central Indiana in a SLIGHT RISK of severe storms for later this evening and the overnight hours. Our #1 concern is likely going to be damaging winds. Next in line for threats is marginal to large hail. Finally, the chance of an isolated, weak, short-lived tornado cannot be ruled out. But we do not have the same set up or atmospheric support for large, long track tornadoes that happened in Oklahoma yesterday. The tornado risk today will be in northeastern Texas and southwest Arkansas. The rest of Central Indiana still has a general chance of thunderstorms, especially overnight.
The Fox 59 weather team will be watching this situation closely throughout the day and will post the latest on watches, warnings and storm timing.
