The Speedway gas station at State Road 32 and Westfield Road in Noblesville was damaged during the severe storm that moved through the area early Tuesday morning.

The Noblesville Police Department said crews were working to assess the damage and clean up.

It appeared the side of the canopy took a direct hit from a gust of wind. Panels were ripped off and the sign was hanging upside down.

Employees did not open the store or the pumps for business Tuesday morning. At last check, crews were removing damaged or loose portions of the canopy in an effort to make it safe enough for customers to use the pumps.

Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour were recorded in the areas of Hamilton and Hendricks counties during the severe weather.

Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses were without power Tuesday morning in Hamilton Co. Several schools lost power causing Noblesville Schools to be on a short delay.
