Police arrest 23 during Race Weekend, about half as many as 2012

Speedway Police said this year’s Indy 500 crowd was a lot tamer than last year’s crowd.

Officially, 23 people were arrested from 8 a.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Sunday. Last year, police arrested about 50 people.

Fifteen of this year’s arrests were for public intoxication.

The remaining arrests were as follows:

  • Disorderly conduct: 1
  • Minor possession of alcohol: 2
  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
  • Invasion of privacy: 1
  • Theft: 2
  • Warrant: 1
