TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—An Indiana family has reunited with their missing dog who was found 500 miles away.

The dog’s owner, Karen Stievenhart from Terre Haute, Ind., told Fox59’s affiliate WGN that her dog, Jasmine, ran away more than three weeks ago after slipping out of her collar.

After searching every animal shelter in Terre Haute, Stievenhart finally received a call that her dog was found…in Atlanta, Ga.

A Georgia woman reported Jasmine jumped in her car, so she brought her to an animal shelter.  A microchip in Jasmine helped track down her family.

Jasmine’s family drove 500 miles to reunite with their missing loved one.  It is unclear how Jasmine ended up in Georgia.
