INDIANAPOLIS – Police have officially ruled a woman’s death a homicide after her body was found in the aftermath of a fire.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police had called the death of 38-year-old Marsha Bright suspicious last week. IMPD told Fox 59 Monday that Bright’s death was being investigated as a homicide.

She was found dead Wednesday after a fire at the Whispering Pines apartment complex on the northwest side. Detectives said Bright’s 2005 black Jeep was stolen around the time of the fire. They later found it in the 7000 block of Knobwood Lane, about seven miles away. Witnesses said the Jeep was on fire.

The case remains under investigation.
