The Indianapolis Colts’ preseason home opener is two months away, but fans came to Lucas Oil Stadium Wednesday primed for some football.

The Colts hosted an open house and minicamp. Fans parked and got into the stadium for free and were able to have fun on the field, hang out with Colts cheerleaders and get some autographs from Colts players.

Amy Hegg and her family traveled from Danville, Ill., for the event.

“Oh, I think it’s great. You know, a lot of times fans don’t have a chance to be one on one with the team and cheerleaders, I just think it’s really exciting,” said Hegg.

Her husband Cliff was thrilled to be able to walk on the field.

“This is great! It really is neat. It’s kind of exciting being on the field, you know, where (Peyton) Manning’s been before. Maybe stepped right here or he was tackled here. It’s kinda cool,” he said.

Fans interested in purchasing season tickets were also able to check out the seats that were still available.

The Colts’ ticket office says there are less than 500 season tickets left for the upcoming season.

“At this point in time we have a lot fewer tickets than we did last year, but we do want fans to know there are still some available because it’s important that they know that and get them now,” said Larry Hall with the Colts.

Many fans told Fox 59 News that it was a great event, saying they enjoyed the experience of walking on the field and even catching a pass or two.

The Colts start the preseason at home on Sunday, Aug. 11, against the Buffalo Bills.
