LAWRENCE, IND. — Emergency crews responded to the Lawrence Apostolic Church on reports of a fire Thursday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 6200 block of Sunnyside Road around 6:35 a.m. Thursday after reports of smoke filling the building.

When crews arrived, they could see smoke coming from the steeple.

Authorities said there were children inside the church’s daycare at the time of the fire, but everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries.

Storms were moving through the area at the time of the fire, but it’s not known if lightning is likely to blame for the fire.
