If all goes right for former Lawrence North standout Greg Oden, he could be taking his talents to South Beach.
In a report from Fox Sports Florida, the back-to-back defending NBA Champion Miami Heat have interest in signing the free-agent center. Despite winning a game seven and NBA championship against the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night by the final of 95-88, the Heat have often had troubles down-low with big men that could be considered “true centers”. The lack of size of Miami hurt the Heat in their seven-game series against the Indiana Pacers, when Roy Hibbert consistently put up double-doubles and had a standout performance.
Oden, the former number-one draft pick of the 2007 draft by the Portland Trailblazer, has had a rocky career due to knee problems. The 2006 Mr. Basketball has not played in an NBA game since 2009.
The free agency period for the Association begins on July 1st.
