INDIANAPOLIS – More than a hundred drivers and 30 technicians put their skills to the test over the weekend.

It was all part of the annual Indiana Truck Driving and Technician Championships at Lincoln College of Technology on the northwest side.

Truck drivers from around the state competed in obstacle courses, written tests and other competitions. Winners advanced to the National Championships, but those who competed said the event was about more than finishing first.

“This is just something that guys can get away, make friends and meet people from other companies,” said Don Conklin of YRC Freight.

The competition also pitted technicians against one another in a variety of skills challenges.

The Banquet of Champions followed at Marriott East.

The event was hosted by the Indiana Motor Truck Association.
