INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Happy Birthday Nyah!

Visitors at the Indianapolis Zoo helped to celebrate the birthday of the newest addition to the zoo’s African elephant herd.

Nyah, who celebrated her first birthday Friday, feasted on cake that consisted of fruit and elephant-safe ingredients.

Nyah was born at 11:48 p.m. last year and was the third calf for mom Ivory. She was also the sixth elephant to be born at the Indianapolis Zoo.

The 1-year-old elephant’s name was chosen by the public last year and means “purpose” in Swahili.
