More than 15,000 Shriners will converge on Indy this week, all part of the 139th Annual Imperial Session of Shriners International.

The Imperial Session is what Shriners call their annual business meeting, as well as a celebration of the fraternity. The organization is international, with over 195 temples worldwide.

This year’s Imperial Session will run from June 30th through July 4, with most events taking place at the Convention Center or the Murat Shriners building, also known as the Old National Centre.

One of the events open to the public is the Shriners Parade on Monday. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Pennsylvania and North Streets.

“We’re honored that Shriners International has chosen to meet in Indianapolis again,” said Leonard Hoops, President and CEO of Visit Indy. “And as the father of a child who has received treatment at Shriners Hospitals for Children, I’m personally appreciative of the work Shriners do to improve the lives of children and their families.”
