INDIANAPOLIS – During Solomon Hill’s introductory news conference on Monday, Larry Bird said the team’s free agency priorities are signing David West and bolstering the bench.
On the first day of the signing period, it appears the Pacers have already taken a step to accomplish the first goal.
According to a report by USA Today and from comments on his Twitter account, it appears the Pacers are close to signing guard C.J. Watson to a deal on Monday.
Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com was the first to report the signing of Watson, who played last season in Brooklyn. On Monday afternoon, Watson tweeted from his account @quietstorm_32 “Keep up with the Pace!!!!”.
Watson played in 80 games last season as a reserve guard for the Nets, playing 19 minutes a game while scoring 6.8 points with 2 assists a contest. The six-year veteran has also played with Golden State and Chicago.
