Police: Armed robber offers victims drugs, his hat as apology for taking cash

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is searching for the suspect in an early morning armed robbery on the city’s east side. 

At approximately 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, a woman reported she was walking with her aunt to her car in the 5900 block of E. 14th St., when a man approached them. The victim stated the man pulled out a silver revolver, pointed it at the victims’ faces and demanded the women hand over all their belongings.

The woman told police she handed over all the cash she had, which was just $7. According to the police report, the victims said the man apologized several times and offered them marijuana in exchange for the stolen cash. When the women refused, they reported the suspect tried to give them his Chicago Bulls hat.

The victims reported the suspect walked off with “his head hung low.” The man was described to be a black male in his 30’s, approximately 6-feet tall, 180 pounds, with a scruffy beard and short hair.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
