Two Indiana War Memorials are credited with reunited a mother duck with her five ducklings.

The employees found the five ducklings trapped in the fountain at University Park Wednesday afternoon.

They scooped each one up and then took the ducks to the Canal all as the mama oversaw. The trek included several city blocks across Meridian, Illinois, Capitol and Senate Streets.

“We are pleased to report Mom and baby ducks are safe in the Canal.  At the Indiana War Memorial we not only honor Veterans, we care about wildlife,” said Stewart Goodwin, Executive Director.

Mom and babies quickly swam away after being placed in the Canal.
