PLAINFIELD, Ind.— A vehicle recovered from a retention pond Friday morning matched the description of the vehicle belonging to missing Plainfield man Morgan Johnson, announced officials at a news conference.
Officials said a body was found in the vehicle, but the identity of the body has not been confirmed at this time.
Johnson, 28, was reported missing in May 2011. A Silver Alert was issued for Johnson after he was last seen leaving a Plainfield motel without his seizure medication, said authorities.
The missing man’s family filed a complaint with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission and several other agencies, claiming the Plainfield Police Department could have done more to find their loved one.
Police said they have remained committed to the case and have searched in at least 14 retention ponds since Johnson’s disappearance. The car was found submerged in a pond in the 1500 block of S. Perry Road around 8 a.m.
Officials said an autopsy is expected to be performed on the body Saturday.
