Police identify victim of fatal overnight shooting on far east side

INDIANAPOLIS – Police are investigating the early morning death of a man on the far east side of Indianapolis.

Police identified the victim as Dontrell Hanyard, 21.

Police were called to 10174 King Arthur Drive at 12:10 a.m. after receiving several reports of shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they found Hanyard inside a 2007 silver Chevrolet Impala with what appeared to be bullet holes in the back passenger window. He was in the driver’s seat.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning.
