An Indianapolis man was seriously injured after being hit by a train Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the scene at East Saint Clair and Dorman Streets around 4 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a man injured from head to toe.

Medics tried to help the man but he became extremely combative, police said. They were eventually able to get him into an ambulance and to the hospital, though.

Officials said it appears the man was distracted by his cellphone at the time of the accident.
