INDIANAPOLIS – A van rolled several times after colliding with another vehicle at an Indianapolis intersection, firefighters say.

Crews from the Indianapolis Fire Department arrived in response to the crash just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of East New York and North Rural streets.

Firefighters said a white 2002 Chevy Venture van ran a red light on New York, crashing into a silver 2005 Chevy Express van going south on Rural Street. According to witnesses, the silver van rolled four times after the impact.

Investigators said the driver of the white van admitted that she ran the red light. The woman and her passenger were unhurt.

The driver of the van that rolled and his passenger were trapped inside the vehicle until IFD crews arrived. It took about five minutes to get them out. The driver wasn’t injured, but his passenger was taken to Wishard Hospital after suffering slight injuries.
