INDIANAPOLIS – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested two people in connection with a human trafficking operation.

On Thursday, detectives from the IMPD Vice and Child Abuse Units took Jerry Mitchell, 24, into custody on charges of child molestation, human trafficking and promoting prostitution. Police referred to Mitchell as the “leader” of a human trafficking operation involving teenagers and at least one 12-year-old child with special needs.

Police also arrested Joniece Peet, 26, in connection with the case. She’s preliminarily charged with promoting prostitution.

IMPD said the investigation was still underway and that more arrests could follow.
