INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – An Indianapolis man died early Monday morning after a crash involving a car and a semi-truck.

The crash occurred on I-65 northbound, just past the exit to I-465. Indiana State Police identified the victim as Alfonso Rios Garcia, 29, Indianapolis.

The driver of the semi-truck told officials he felt something hit him from behind around 3 a.m. Monday. When he pulled off the road, he found the BMW driven by Garcia wedged beneath the tractor-trailer.

Garcia died at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Crews closed both northbound lanes of I-65 while separating the BMW and the semi. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the driver of the car ran into the back of the truck.
