The City-County Council voted down a proposal that would have taxed property owners in the heart of Fountain Square.

Some property owners requested the tax, hoping the money would be re-invested and ultimately boost business.

The proposal called for any property in the designated area to put money into a fund over a five-year period.

A board would then have been created to decide where to invest that money.
