HENDRICKS COUNTY – A woman whose remains were found last week had been hit by a car, police say.

The remains of Nikki Lanpher were discovered Thursday night in the 2700 block of Raceway Road. Family members last saw her on July 19.

On Thursday, July 25, Lanpher’s body was found, but police couldn’t immediately identify her because of decomposition. Dental records later confirmed her identity. An autopsy found that she had been hit by a vehicle, Brownsburg police said.

Investigators said the area has little lighting and was very dark, conceding that whoever hit her may not have realized it. Police believe it happened sometime after Friday, July 19 at 11:30 p.m.

Detectives are now looking for any information about the case. Anyone with a tip should call Det. Jennifer Barrett at (317) 852-1109 ext. 2121 or Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
