Armed robbery suspect in custody

Around 6pm on Wednesday, the Lafayette Police Department responded to an armed robbery call in the area of Beck Lane and Davis Drive. According to the victim, the robbery occurred at Armstrong Park; the suspect displayed a handgun, demanded an undisclosed amount of money and then fled on foot.

Officers followed a tip that the suspect was possibly inside a residence in the 2500 block of Cambridge Rd. The residence was surrounded and the suspect was called out of the residence without incident. The suspect was identified as Brandon Michael Darnell.

Darnell was arrested and transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail on the charge of Robbery While Armed with a Deadly Weapon.
