4 year old injured in ATV accident

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an all-terrain vehicle accident that occurred on private property near Salem, in Southern Indiana on Thursday evening.

Investigators say the victim, a 4-year-old boy was operating a youth model ATV when he lost control, struck a tree and was thrown from the ATV.

The accident victim was operating the ATV was taken to Harrison County Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries, including a broken nose.

The boy’s stepfather was supervising at the time of the accident, and quickly ran to help.

The boy was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment.  Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourages riders to always wear a helmet and necessary safety equipment.
