Lebanon schools add police department for first day

LEBANON, Ind. – Lebanon Community School Corporation will unveil a new police program for the first day of school on Thursday.

This program came to fruition after the school corporation put together a safety task force to explore all possible options for improving safety in the school buildings.

There will be one full time police officer in the high school and one full time police officer in the middle school with plans to expand the school police program to include an officer at each of the elementary schools as well.

Additionally, local law enforcement has provided the school corporation with two fully equipped police cars. The cars and equipment will be transferred to the new police program at the start of school Thursday morning.
