Child injured after mom strikes semi on far east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—A 6-year-old boy was injured after police said his mother struck a semi on the far east side Thursday morning.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Shortride and English.

Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said it is believed the boy’s mother was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The boy was transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.  Fox59 spoke with the boy’s father on the scene who stated his son was doing OK.
