Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was given bragging rights Saturday afternoon after winning a city-wide kickball tournament.

The competition was fast and furious at Wes Montgomery Park, as city officials and community leaders squared off against each other for a good cause.

Eight teams took the field to compete to raise awareness of crime in the city.

“Most of the time we are stuck in our offices during the week and this is a good thing for us all to come together,” said Misty Lewis, the Southeast region recreation coordinator.

IMPD took home the trophy after beating the Indy Parks kickball team, who had guaranteed a win before the tournament began.

Proceeds from the tournament go to neighborhood and community parks and centers.
