WATKINS GLEN, NY – After a rough week in hospitals, Tony Stewart is finally headed home.

On Sunday night Stewart Haas Racing announced on Twitter that the three-time Sprint Cup Champion has been released from the hospital after breaking his leg in a Sprint Car race in Iowa last Tuesday.

“Tony Stewart is out of the hospital & resting as comfortably as he can at home. Thx for the thoughts & prayers. #SmokeWillRise,” is what the organization announced on it’s Twitter account Sunday.

Stewart’s leg break required two surgeries and caused him to miss his first Sprint Cup race since 1999 Sunday at Watkins Glen. Road racing veteran Max Papis took the seat for Sunday’s race and finished 15th in the race won by Kyle Busch.

It’s unknown when Stewart will return to the car.
