A Chinese zoo’s attempt to pass a dog off as a lion almost worked… until the dog started barking.

According to the South Morning China Post, a cage that supposedly featured “African lions” instead contained a Tibetan mastiff, a long-haired dog. When visitors complained, an employee claimed that the lions had been taken to another zoo to breed and would return soon.

But zoo visitors reported other irregularities, including a dog in a space marked for wolves, rodents in a space marked for snakes and a white fox in a habitat marked for leopards.
