Person killed following shooting on near northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS — A person has died after a shooting on the near northwest side Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting occurred in the 3500 block of Kebil Drive at Aspen Village Apartments around 1:46 p.m. When officers arrived to the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He was transported to Wishard Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a second victim, who was not shot, ran away from the shooting scene and jumped into a nearby retention pond. Residents in the area found the struggling man and pulled him to safety. He was transported to Wishard Hospital in serious condition.

Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene. There are no suspects at this time.
