INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an attempted abduction after a young woman told authorities that two people tried to pull her into a van on the north side.

Tatianna Diaz-Deleon, 19, told police she was walking home from Marsh at 86th Street and Ditch Road around midnight Friday, when a dark van pulled up to her. The woman reported the van was occupied by a white female with long blondish-brown hair and one male.

“I felt (the) van come up behind me, and I just kept walking” she said. “I heard a lady, she started yelling my name and she was telling me to come to her and stuff. I just kept walking faster.”

According to the police report, the victim said the female suspect was hanging out of the window and yelled, “Hey, come here.” She said the female suspect attempted to grab her left arm, but the victim was able to pull away and took off running. The woman reported the van continued to follow her and the female suspect attempted to grab her again.

“I was terrified,” she said. “I was crying and everything, I didn’t know what to do.”

The victim ran into a nearby apartment complex, where she found an officer. According to the report, the suspects fled westbound towards Michigan Road.

“I’m not sure if they were trying to take me, because they had a few opportunities,” Diaz-Deleon said. “I’m not sure what their intentions were.”

Others who live and work on the north side said they were concerned after hearing about the incident.

“It’s unnerving because I do live up here, and I walk around this area a lot,” said north side resident Julie Heffern.“I’ll just have to be a little more careful I guess.”
