INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a southeast side high school earlier this month.

The alleged assault took place at Franklin Central High School on Aug. 16, but it wasn’t reported until Thursday when an 18-year-old girl’s mother reported the incident.  Officers spoke with the teen, who stated she was alone in a classroom when the 17-year-old male student approached her and unzipped his pants, according to the police report.

The girl reported the male student tried to force her to perform a sexual act on him.  She told authorities he exposed himself and engaged in a lewd act in front of her before leaving the classroom.

Officers located and questioned the 17-year-old boy, who admitted he was waiting for the teacher to leave the room so he could talk to the alleged victim.  According to the report, the boy admitted asking the girl to perform the sexual act, but he said he left when he heard the door open.  He denied ever touching the girl or performing a lewd act.

The case was turned over to an IMPD sex crimes detective.
