Police have determined the gun used in an attempted carjacking was also used in an earlier homicide.

Brent Walls was fatally shot in a police action shooting back on Aug. 8.

Police said he tried to steal a woman’s car in the 2500 block of Shelby Street before fleeing on foot. When confronted by police, Walls reportedly showed a gun.

Police said they have now determined the gun he had in his possession was used in the murder of his father, Charles Walls, back in June 2013.

Additionally, detectives believe the physical description of a suspect last seen fleeing the scene on June 24, 2013, closely matches the physical description of Brent Walls.
