Woman seriously injured in east side shooting

Police are investigating a shooting that left a woman seriously injured Monday.

The shooting happened in the 3600 block of North Dearborn Street around 7 p.m.

Police said the woman suffered gunshot wounds to the leg and hand.

Witnesses helped police locate a suspect near 36th and Olney Streets. That suspect has been taken into custody for questoning.

Detectives are searching the area for the weapon.
