FBI agents raided an Indianapolis doctor’s office as a part of a fraud investigation.

Tuesday, the CEO of Mobile Doctors and one of his physicians was arrested in Chicago. At the same time, FBI agents were raiding offices in six states, including Indianapolis.

Mobile Doctors manages physicians who make house calls.

Federal investigators allege the company defrauded Medicare out of more than $2.5 million. They said physicians would lie about Medicare bills for in-home visits, “upcoding” the total bill for a higher reimbursement.

Officials also said that the company would falsely certify that patients were confined to their homes and therefore required the services of Mobile Doctors.

The alleged scheme has been going on since 2006.

It’s not clear if any Indiana doctors could face charges.
