INDIANAPOLIS – Two semis collided Friday afternoon, sparking a fire that kept crews busy.

It happened at 4302 W. Bradbury Ave. That’s in the area of Sam Jones Expressway and Stout Field. Investigators said the semis were from a trucking or distribution company. It appeared one truck tried to make an illegal U-turn, causing the other truck to crash into it even though the driver slammed on the brakes. The driver of the first truck was unconscious after the crash; a good Samaritan pulled him out. That driver was taken to an area hospital but is awake and okay. The second driver was not hurt.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, the fire was under control. Hazmat teams were cleaning up 300 gallons of diesel fuel spilled as a result of the crash. The area will be closed for the next two or three hours.
