Pedestrian struck and killed on city’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A pedestrian was struck and killed on Indy’s south side Sunday night.

IMPD was called to East Stop 11 Road and Madison Avenue around 10:40pm with reports of a male struck.

When EMS arrived they pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The driver of an SUV was heading north on Madison Ave. when he says he did not see the male going across the street.

The driver attempted to apply the brakes but unfortunately was not able to stop in time.

The driver is cooperating with investigators and will be offered a blood draw to test his blood for any illegal intoxicants.

Investigators do not suspect alcohol as it relates to the driver.

Once the victim has been positively identified and his family notified this advisory may be updated

Investigators will continue their investigation for several hours, and parts of Madison Ave. will remain restricted.
