Tech isn’t known for being a football school but the tide is changing for the Titans. After almost beating #5 Carmel to kick off the season they gave #6 Pike a ton of trouble on Friday night. The game was tied at 17 in the fourth quarter until Pike senior quarterback Brent Lyles tossed a 41 yard touchdown pass to Devin Pearson. The Red Devils took the lead for good and beat Tech 30-17.

“We started off slow. We knew it wasn’t that Tech was doing we did it to ourselves. The o-line played great and they gave up two sacks but that was nothing. Our defense played great,” said Lyles.

“Tech doesn’t get enough credit that is a quality football team they are going to win some games. That was a physical game that was a good hard-nosed football game and I’m obviously glad we came out on top,” added Head Coach Derek Moyers.

Lyles threw three touchdown passes in the game, two of them going to senior wide receiver Jared Ruth.

The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season and they will travel to North Central next week. While Tech drops to 1-2 and heads to Brebeuf on Friday September 13th.
