BOONE COUNTY, Ind.—Two separate crashes have closed the area near State Road 32 and SR 75 in Boone County Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:05 p.m., emergency crews responded to an accident near SR 32 and CR 500 West.

Authorities said the driver of a blue tractor trailer was traveling westbound and attempted to miss a slowing vehicle. The semi was unable to stop and crashed into an eastbound vehicle, later determined to be a beige Pontiac Grand Prix, killing the driver of that vehicle. The semi driver was not injured.

The driver of a blue, Dodge Neon tried to avoid the semi but was unsuccessful and crashed into the semi. All three passengers in the Dodge were taken to Witham Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Another crash occurred in the area and involved two semi-tractor trailers. Those semi drivers were not injured.

Lanes are not expected to reopen for several hours.

Traffic is being diverted at SR 32 and Enterprise.

Officers do not believe alcohol was a factor.
