Child shot on far East side

Original: Police say a boy was shot in the arm as he was walking into the house with his sister and brother, Saturday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. on the city’s far East side

The 13-year-old sister says she heard a gunshot and also heard a car take off, just as she realized her brother had been hit.

She took the boy to a neighbor’s house around the corner, in the 3600 block of Biscayne Road, where they called police.

The younger brother says he thought he saw a black jeep leaving the area just after the shot.

The boy who was shot was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where at last check he was in good condition.

Update:  Police said Sunday afternoon that they now believe that the child was shot by his 13-year-old sister and that there was no drive by.

Police believe that the shooting was an accident however detectives are still investigating the shooting.
