The Indianapolis Colts and hundreds of volunteers came together to build a playground for an east side elementary school Tuesday.

Nearly 200 volunteers and players constructed a new playground in a day for George Fisher Elementary School.

They didn’t stop at just a playground, though.  Volunteers spruced up the grounds at the school by painting, weeding and landscaping.

“The kids are inside and they are chomping at the bit to get out here and see it when it is finished. They’re very, very excited,” said Samra Rogers, Principal.

It’s the sixth year in a row the Colts have tackled a project like this one.

Volunteers also plan to build an outdoor classroom, revitalizing the students’ garden and kickball fields, and creating a special outdoor lounge area for teachers.
