INDIANAPOLIS – Colleagues of fallen IMPD officer Rod Bradway escorted his casket into Bankers Life Fieldhouse Thursday morning.

The hearse traveled with a motorcycle escort from Crown Hill Cemetery to the venue.  A color guard and pallbearers took Bradway’s remains inside ahead of the officer’s 11 a.m. funeral. Some of his closest friends and police classmates were there to receive his body.

“It’s going to be a long day. It’s going be a busy day, an emotional day for a lot of people, especially his family,” Lt. Chris Bailey of IMPD said. “We want to make sure the city wraps their arms around this family today.”

Bailey said it’s important for the community to show its support so Bradway’s family knows his sacrifice will always be remembered.

The officer was killed last Friday after charging through an apartment door to save a woman he believed to be in trouble.
