KOKOMO, Ind.– Authorities have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed a Kokomo teen and severely injured another.

Randall Rector, 58, was booked in the Howard County Jail on charges of reckless homicide, failure to stop after an accident resulting in death and failure to stop after an accident. He is being held on a $15,000 bond.

The accident happened on Center Road at the entrance to the Highland Springs subdivision on Sept. 12.

Christian Reede and Donte Brown, both 13 years old, were riding a moped when a truck hit them. Reede died as a result of his injuries. Brown suffered critical injuries, but has improved and continues to recover at home.

Police said on Sept. 21 they responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Highland Springs Drive in connection with a separate case. However, while at the house, Kokomo police said officers recovered possible evidence that pertained to the fatal hit-and-run accident.
